Claire Ridley ACR
I am an experienced conservator with over 19 years in the profession. I have a Master of Arts degree (with distinction) in Furniture Conservation and Restoration from Buckinghamshire New University. My first degree was a 2:1 BA (Hons) in Conservation and Restoration from De Montfort University, Lincoln
Following an internship in the carving and gilding studio at the Royal Collection in London, my first appointment was Gilding Conservator at the Royal Collection, between 2001-2003. I moved to Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery in 2003, first as Frame Conservator, where I was solely responsible for the picture frames across various museum sites in the directorate. After the contract ended, I took on a wider remit as Conservator of Decorative Surfaces until 2011. Working part time at the museum, I established my business, Belgrave Conservation. Since 2005, Belgrave Conservation has been fortunate to have worked on a wide variety of challenging and interesting projects for clients both in the UK and overseas.
I became an accredited conservator with the PACR (Professional Accreditation of Conservator-Restorers) scheme through ICON (Institute of Conservation) and continue to keep up-to-date with my professional development and the wider advances in the field of conservation.
