Our Conservation/Restoration business has been established since 2001.  Sophie Younger, Director has over 25 years working experience.

Younger Conservation Ltd offer services and experience in textile conservation/restoration, materials science, collections care and project management. We conserve a range of modern and historic textiles including: tapestry, embroideries, carpets, rugs, furnishing textiles, banners, costume, upholstery fabrics, lace and ecclesiastical embroidery; and work with other conservators and contractors to preserve related ‘Objects d’Art’.

We love what we do and take particular care to understand our client’s needs. Remedial work is carried out either in our well-equipped Perthshire workshop or on site. We travel widely within the UK to meet clients, inspect and consult on work that can be varied because each job presents different challenges.

YCL believes in informed and co-operative decision making, we appreciate the many aspects that authenticate objects such as: history, context, function, form, technology, materials, art and aesthetics. We focus on quality, innovation and professionalism. Training and experience count for a great deal; we are accredited by the Institute of Conservation in both textile and preventive conservation.

Our service is bespoke, personal and dedicated.

Clients include: National Trust for Scotland, community groups, Historic Environment Scotland, Glasgow Museums, National Trust for Scotland, Holyrood Palace, Historic Houses & Trust and many private individuals.
