A private textile conservation studio 12 miles north of Norwich. The studio is housed in a recently built industrial unit of approx. 70 square metres, offering spacious facilities, complete with fire and security alarms and excellent access. The studio has been vetted and approved by the National Trust Security Advisor. It is well equipped to provide clients with an excellent service for the conservation of historic textiles.

The studio offers a full range of textile conservation services:

  • Advice on the care and preservation of textiles, display and storage.
  • Condition surveys of textile collections, prioritisations, action plans and estimates for conservation.
  • Practical hands on studio-based conservation work on all types of textiles, with a specific interest in tapestry, embroidery, furnishing textiles and upholstery.
  • Onsite conservation work, including remedial repairs and preventative conservation, working on textiles on open display within historic house settings and private collections.
  • Working with volunteers, guiding and instructing volunteer projects.
  • Delivering training sessions for National Trust Conservation Assistants & House Staff.
  • Approved conservator to the National Trust.

Most work is carried out in the studio, with occasional short-term help from qualified textile conservators and specialists in other disciplines. Work is also carried out onsite, which often involves working as part of a team, organising and leading the project, and working alongside volunteers to guide and train them in specific tasks. This joint collaboration with a conservator led approach has proved a mutually enjoyable experience, which has been much appreciated, especially for projects, which otherwise would not receive funding for costly conservation treatment.

All conservation treatment is carried out with a professional approach and to the highest standards no matter what size or value given to the object.
