I specialise in conserving and restoring oil paintings on canvas and wood panel. In my 25 years of practice I have conserved paintings ranging from the 16th century to the 21st century, with many Scottish paintings from the 19th and the 20th centuries. Apart from private clients, I have carried out conservation work for the University of Edinburgh and the Edinburgh College of Art Collection, The Royal Collection and The National Trust for Scotland, the Earl and Countess of Wemyss and March, Gosford House, East Lothian, The Abbotsford Trust, Heriot-Watt University, the Museum on the Mound (Lloyds Banking Group Archives and Museums) and the Ingleby Gallery. I was closely involved with the restoration of Norie panels (1740s) at Historic Scotland for the Museum of Scotland. At Clare Meredith’s Conservation Studio I restored a ‘Portrait of James Hamilton, 2nd Marquess of Hamilton’ after Daniel Mytens for the Royal Collection (Palace of Holyroodhouse). Other examples of work are ‘Venus and Adonis’ by the Workshop of Titian (16th century), paintings by Jacob van Ruisdael, Sir Henry Raeburn, Sir Edwin Landseer, William van de Velde, Eugene Boudin, Peter Neeffs the Elder, Adriaen Hanneman, Samuel Peploe, ¬†Alison Watt, John Bellany, Alan Davie, amongst others.¬†
