The sheer scale of some archive collections means that conservation projects can be daunting. In order to maintain costs within reasonable limits, and to keep within practical timescales, it is sometimes best to seek treatment compromises. The widespread use of Melinex to house and protect paper documents can reduce the need for expensive repairs, and mean that they can be handled safely.
