This project, commissioned by English Heritage, concerns the monuments in the ruinous part of Lanercost Priory, Cumbria. They include simple grave slabs dating from relatively soon after the Priory’s foundation, more ornate memorials to the medieval Vaux family and then the Dacres – including the exceptionally fine remains of the memorials to the 1st and 2nd Lords Dacre and their wives – up to the last Dacre who died in 1716, and then to the Howards.

I was commissioned in 2018 to carry out a study of the monuments and to survey them for their conservation needs. In 2020 Skillington Workshop Ltd were awarded the contract for carrying out these repairs. I managed the team, as well as carrying out some of the conservation works myself.
