Pieta Greaves

The panel dated 1641 painted at the top right corner within the painted ribbon. It is likely that the panel was painted by a studio or team of craftsmen / artists rather than an individual artist, and by whom is unknown.

The Royal Charles the first coat of arms oil on panel is constructed from six vertical panels each fitted together by lap joints.

Conservation removed old discoloured varnish, cleaned and retouched the painted surface followed by a new long-lasting varnish application.
