Rebecca Kench ACR
I am an accredited painting conservator with over 20 years experience, based in the Wirral, Merseyside. I gained professional accreditation through ICON in 2006. After completing a History of Art degree at Sussex University, and an MA in Victorian Art and Architecture at Royal Holloway, University of London, I studied Paintings Conservation at the Hamilton Kerr Institute, University of Cambridge, from 1996-1999. I completed my training with an internship at the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco in 2000. Following this, I undertook a 1 year internship at National Museums Liverpool. I've worked as a painting conservator at National Museums Liverpool since 2002, where I now work part time 3 days a week.
In 2018 I set up a private practice. I have worked for museums, public collections and private owners. My practice carries out conservation work on canvas and panel paintings from the 16th century to the present day. I also undertake surveys of painting collections and exhibition work, including condition checking and writing condition reports. I am an experienced art courier and can act as a book-end courier.
All work is fully documented, and an estimate is produced in advance of any work and agreed with the client. I have professional conservators' insurance including public liability and professional indemnity.
